what was the name of the science show on channel 56 back in the 60's? It was produced by the university of michigan and had different science experiments.
I sure would like to know if there are any saved episodes I could see or purchase since my dad was the scientist on the show and he is no longer alive.

'Tis the season for a PBS Pledge Drive. I am wondering if anyone has any memories of what was shown during the drives or anything about them.

I know they are really into showing "self-help" and home/garden gurus now. It seems like they've had Gary Null visit for many years!

Has anyone seen the Gary Null specials? Have you seen him in the WTVS studio during pledge breaks? I just saw one recently (I don't think it was a rebroadcast..) and they still had Dan paired up...

Anyone remember the old painting shows on PBS and elsewhere? Actually, some are still on and going strong today. My mom and dad were both fans of lots of these shows and our whole family got hooked on 'em. A couple of our favorites were: THE ART OF WILLIAM ALEXANDER (if you could make out what he was saying half the time), and, THE JOY OF PAINTING WITH BOB ROSS (this guy was great. As was his 2-foot afro!).

I mean, even if you're not into art or painting, you'd watch one of these shows...

His name was Jack Horkheimer. There's the guy's first problem: his name sounds like an expletive (e.g. "Man, my boss is a real horkheimer!").

His other problem was his bug-eyed, jittery affect.
Was anyone else watching back in the early days of this show when it was called SNEAK PREVIEWS on PBS in the late '70s--early '80s? Remember Spot the Wonder Dog?

In 1981 they left the PBS show and began the Tribune Entertainment-syndicated AT THE MOVIES show (where Spot was replaced by Aroma the skunk, which eventually was cut to make room for commercials, of course!).
Does anyone remember this odd psychology series that channel 56 used to show back in the '80s called, THE ART OF BEING HUMAN? It was a 30 minute show they'd show around 5:00 PM and I always found it strangely compelling and even a little bizarre. It had a surreal vibe and pacing I always thought. I don't know, for whatever reason, it just creeped me out.

They'd show various stock footage-type scenes of people, places, and life in general (sunsets, people getting married, old people,...
