Hey all. I don't usually set foot in a Wal-Mart, but I just happened to be in one the other day. Warner Brothers has these DVD sets of Saturday Morning Cartoons from the 60's and 70's, featuring "Josie & The Pussycats", "Space Ghost", "Quick Draw McGraw", "Frankenstein Jr.", etc. as well as a bunch of other Hanna-Barbera and other rarities and "classics". I'm a rare poster around here. Mainly because I (a) live in Japan and am WAY out of the loop, and (b) I've been finding this board real difficult to log onto since it went to Yuku. I'm only successful about one out of every 20 tries.

One of the best things about living in Japan is seeing the DAMNDEST stuff they decide to translate and import over here. On the Japanese version of "Cartoon Network", they run "Cartoon Midnight" on Friday and Saturday...

Does anyone remember the space bumpers that CBS used to have from 1984-1986, right before the commercial breaks for each cartoon that aired on CBS/WJBK (Detroit)?

I do.

I've always felt that CBS had some of the best bumpers, as well as some of the best cartoons in the 1980s. Seeing the bumpers on youtube makes me wish the networks would restore saturday morning cartoons to how it was in the 70s and 80s, when it was at its peak. It also make me wish CBS was back...

First up, Superfriends.

For starters, I never quite understood the name "Superfriends" as a designation. The Legion of Doom sounded cool and sinister. The Superfriends sounded like a group of people who superhumanly liked each other.

Then there's that classic Superfriends' we've-got-to-say-out-loud-what-we're-about-to-do-or-what-just-happened thing. Is useless exposition considered a superpower?

Transformers on WXON Ch 20

Does anyone remember Transformers being on Ch 20? I remember visiting a friend in Detroit in the mid-late 1980s, and I remember watching the old 1980s Transformers cartoon on WXON-TV.

I can't find anything on a children's show that I remember from the 60s..it was a cartoon that was shown on Sundays around the time Davey and Golieth was shown?? I think it was called JOT? a cute little bouncing circle with a tiny voice that had adventures?
Does any of this sound familiar to anyone?

Last night Lost Hottie Evangeline Lilly mentioned a Canadian cartoon she didn't know the name of. She said it featured a lumberjack rolling on some logs, and also he danced with some woman. She said if you grew up in Canada you would know what this was. I think TV North would know this.

This show is among the very first tv cartoons I can recall watching as a child. I don't really remember much of it beyond it's catchy theme song and that interesting robot bird. I don't even have much fondness for it--just a spot in my memory. However, it must have been in the first group of cartoons made especially for television.
