I don't know if they are archived anywhere online, or destroyed... you may want to log on to their website, find their email address, and talk to them. Kool Can't we all just get along?

They would show PSA's like John Denver Plant a tree, Woodsy the OWL give a hoot and other ones from that era, They probably showed the indian on the boat one as well

Posts: 32 Aug 6 02 8:37 AM Recurring Character Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Kidbits was later than that. I remember watching when I was in the fifth grade, which would have been 1981 or so. Of the PSAs they showed, I remember... 4H, Junior Achievement, NBC-produced "There's a SMART way to watch TV" (with Lenny Schulz), "A Tip from your Better Business Bureau" (with Abominable Snowman), Cub/Boy Scouts, and something local that showed a bunch of kids doing outdoor things, and a very bored girl telling her friends watching the tube, "TV is neat, but that stuff is neat, too". And there were probably some others I'm forgetting.

Don't ask me his name, because I don't know the names of ANY of the TV2 announcers...they kept themselves fairly anonymous...but you know what? I think there was a commercial spot in which he appeared. I know what he looked like... I do know the names of a couple at 4, and ALL of the announcers on 9...and the sole one on Ch. 7 during those years..Gene Avram. I remember reports of Dick Van Seiss, staff announcer at Ch. 4, gasping for breath on the air while giving the news before sign-off, and a concerned listener called 911 right away, and got help for him... Kool Can't we all just get along?

Recurring Character Posts: 255 Sep 3 03 7:56 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I recall that PSA, which aired in the early-1980s, featured Bob Newhart talking with a librarian on the phone (which we don't see or hear). For those who don't know, before Bob Newhart's career as a sitcom TV star, he was a comedian whose many bits involve telephone conversations. *Quote:* How about this one.... Anti-smoking spot. "Like father, like son.......like father, like son?....think about it." Was that ad produced for the Heart Association? I recall a PSA produced around 1967-1968, and seen into the mid-1970s, featured a little boy and his dad on a fishing trip, which, at that time, Pop decided to smoke. I don't know what the announcer said, though the quote above might've been it.

Recurring Character Posts: 187 Sep 10 03 10:52 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Another early 1970's PSA TV ad was with a take off on the 3 Little Pigs where a big bad wolf was watching TV and smoking at the same time and a news report came on saying "Three little pigs have built a house of straw", the wolf turns of the TV set and starts laughing and rushes to the pigs' house of straw. The wolf does his usual "Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in", then the pigs do the usual "Not by the hair of my chinny, chin, chin", and then the wolf does his usual "And I'll huff, and I'll puff, and I blow your house in!" Then the wolf tries to blow down the house with his huff but since he was smoking he began to cough constantly and the three little pigs laugh at the wolf. The PSA ends with an announcer saying "Save your breath, don't smoke cigarettes". Was this PSA later adopted for a American Cancer Society giveaway booklet called "Huff and Puff"? And there was another one that even aired in the late 1970's for the American Heart Association with the Wizard of Oz's Tin Man - "What do you want a heart for? To thump...To jump for joy and jump...I'll be careful what I eat...And if you exercise each and every day, if the doctor says what's good for my heart he'll thank you right away".

Posts: 75 Sep 10 03 6:44 PM Recurring Character Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Anybody remember these: "Be Yourself"--A sort of self-esteem building thing, which featured a bunch of kids in "Be Yourself" T-shirts singing the praises of individuality... A series of fire-safety PSA's featuring Dick Van Dyke... The Smothers Brothers for the American Dental Association... A series of PSA's that would show a couple of kids fighting or arguing, and then freeze-frame on the scene while a female announcer said "What would YOU do?"... A series of spots featuring a farmer puppet singing "On the farm we grow the food that's everything you need to eat..." A traffic-safety PSA that was a tour of a junkyard, telling the story behind each wreck: "If only she had looked both ways" "If only he hadn't taken that last drink"--this one also had realistic footage of cars colliding and really scared the crap out of me when I was a kid... I also have a hazy memory of another traffic-saftey thing that involved somebody leaving his keys in the ignition, and some kids joyriding, wrecking the auto, and (presumably) getting killed, all because, as the narrator kept intoning, "Somebody left the keys in the car, Somebody left the keys in the car..."
