I went there numerous times as a kid. I was devastated when it was finally torn down. I have many happy memories of - playing on the playground below the screen before dark fell, - laying on top of our stationwagon to watch the movies, - and waiting for those awesome ads for the snack counter they'd run before and between the movies. However, I have heard that the back of the Gratiot's screen (which actually faced Gratiot Ave.) had been an artificial waterfall. I never saw it on. Anyone know if that's true? When did the Mt. Clemens finally close? Or is it still hanging on? Floyd II

I vaguely recall another one near 15 mile and gratiot...or is that a figment of my imagination? I'm lucky enough to have seen the waterfall in action in the very early fifties, when I first moved to Roseville. Now, thanks to the Internet, I have a picture or two of it (including waterfall) on my desktop. And I actually have a pic of the concession stand at the Bel Air. Ain't technology grand? The popcorn was better in those days, though. Cliff Morris

I was sooooo pissed when my Mom wouldn't take me. I've always remembered that, and I would have been eight at the time. In later years, I did get to see the movie. It was pretty awful. I would have liked to have met the Slithis though.
