R.I.P. Don Rickles
Farewell, we must again, but I wanted to bid a fond adieu to Mr. Don Rickles, who also passed away at the age of 90. Oh, yes, "The Merchant Of Venom" and "Mr. Warmth", himself, Don appeared in numerous TV shows and films. Although he appeared on many shows during the prime era of comedy ("Dick Van Dyke Show", "Gilligan's Island", "The Addams Family" "I Dream Of Jeannie", "Get Smart", etc.), and even had his own variety show and "The Don Rickles Show" (for a season), he was probably most remembered for playing the title role in "C.P.O. Sharkey" in the late 70's. He also appeared on Johnny Carson's "Tonight Show" over 100 times! One of the funniest things I remember was "The Cigarette Box Incident", where he broke Johnny's cigarette box while talking to Bob Newhart, who was one of Carson's "fill-in hosts" over the years...This is TOO funny!
Here's another great moment with Frank Sinatra, who was one of the catalysts in helping Don become popular in Vegas, and throughout the world...
Even the "new guard" felt his "wrath" once in a while...
Definitely, a comedy legend, and as the man himself might have said, "You're a dummy if you don't think so!"
